Tree Planter + Precision Seeding Attachment
$55/day (Members) $110/day (Non-members)
A common tree planter that is fitted with a small seed box and can be used to sow native seeds while planting seedlings simultaneously. Such equipment can be used to scalp 50mm of topsoil (to remove weeds), make a shallow rip (20-30cm deep) and scatter seed on freshly disturbed soil. It is advisable to drag a steel chain or branch behind the machine to ensure shallow coverage of the soil.
Comm Veg Direct Seeder
$110/day (Members) $220/day (Non-members)
A local, purpose built, native plant seeder. This machine can be used to scalp, rip and sow 1-3 lines per pass. On mounded, wet sites it can be used to sow seeds on the top of tall mounds. Seedlings can be then either planted by hand using Pottiputkis or with a Tree Planter.
Pottiputkis (Hand Planters) + Kidney Baskets
Free (for members only)
Pottiputkis are used for manually planting seedlings. Simply push into the soil, drop the seedling gently (roots first) down the tube, press on the foot leaver to release the seedling and then pat the seedling in with surrounding soil to secure it. Kidney baskets can be used to carry seedlings comfortably on your back while planting.
